Land Art Team Explores 2015 Trends at MANTS Tradeshow

The Land Art designers headed to the Baltimore Convention Center last week to attend MANTS, the Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show. Sponsored by the Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia Nurserymen’s Associations, MANTS is one of the largest horticultural trade shows in the United States. Now in its 44th year, MANTS 2015 drew nearly 1,000 exhibitors and more than 10,000 attendees from throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, and Asia.

We’re always looking to connect with new suppliers at MANTS and this year’s show did not disappoint. We made some new friends who were exhibiting from Simnitt Nursery in Canby, Oregon nursery and we’ll certainly include some of their stunning evergreens in our 2015 landscape designs.

Several pottery exhibitors caught our attention, too. From cast iron urns and glazed pots to terracotta and galvanized planters, the breadth of styles and materials was impressive and had us longing for warmer days. This heron planter by Pennoyer Newman was one of our favorites.

We discovered some hardscape innovations, too. These prefab fire boxes will streamline the construction of outdoor grills, an increasingly popular project request from Land Art clients. And Meshoppen Stone is offering a wider range of beveled edges for stone wall caps.

It’s a joy to be surrounded by creative people. Just look at Foxborough Nursery’s plant sculpture of the MANTS sunflower. And at the end of a long day, there’s nothing like sharing a meal with your team!
